Due to the sensitivity around this role (which I will talk you through when we speak) my client who are a leading provider of Logistics services, providing Freight Forwarding, Supply Chain Management, UK Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics and Contract Management are using Vidu VIP to source an exceptional Depot Operations Manager.

This role has been created due to the significant growth this company is experiencing around the Midlands area. They want to capitalise on this and secure a commercially aware depot operations manager to drive further growth locally and nationally, whilst retaining their existing client base. This is a really exciting opportunity if you are ready to take on ownership of a depot, make a difference and be truly accountable and rewarded for moving a market leading Logistics company into the next phase of their growth plan.

Key Tasks:

Grow the customer base both locally and nationally.
Account Management.
Manage the Depot facility.
Recruit and manage all depot staff.
Liaising with customers and responding to their demands.
Warehouse Management control.
Over view scheduling and Transport resource.
Utilising the companies equipment and resources as effectively as possible.
Ensure all operational processes are adhered to.

Person Specification:

In order to be successful in this position you must have a proven track record of managing a depot from an operational and commercial perspective. It’s imperative you can demonstrate your commercial experience, including but not limited to customer attraction and retention.
Be confident in working in a fast paced environment.
Having a can do attitude and being self-motivated is essential, along with a proactive and strategic approach, accompanied by good computer skills, knowledge of current legislation relating to Drivers tachograph rules and the Working Time Directive.

Key Accountabilities:

Working closely within the Traffic team and reporting to the General Manager you will be involved in the day-to-day planning of own and sub-contracting deliveries using and keeping up to date all available systems while ensuring you deliver a high quality operational performance whilst paying particular attention to health and safety and legal compliance.

Skills and experience required

CPC National and/or International desirable but not essential.
Experience of managing depots in excess of £6 Million P&L and operating upwards of 30 vehicles.
Comfortable in leading and managing a team of 60 staff across all areas of sales, operations, warehousing, traffic control.
Proven track record of winning new business locally and nationally.
Strong Operational Manager with commercial awareness.
