About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Commercially aware Finance Director to be based out of Manchester and support the team of rapidly growing, extremely innovative logistics business.

The role is positioned at a salary of circa £75,000 pro rata but our client are also open to paying a daily rate (market rate)

Scope of the Role:

As Finance Director you will directly contribute to achieving our clients company objectives and optimise the company’s financial performance and strategic position both in the short term and long term.

You will also provide support for the Financial Controller, cashflow support, big data analysis and how the accounting system can be further developed.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial:
Analyse the financial climate and market trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future.

Improve the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance across all departments.

Provide big data analysis to deliver insight that link financial data to business strategies.

Provide targeted strategic insights across every department of a business.

Provide effective financial procedures, or initiate change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered.

Provide strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company’s financial commitments are met.

Develop and support the financial KPI targets for the management team.

Financial:
Support the company’s accounting functions.

Liaise with clients to proactively discuss financial planning.

Drive financial planning and analysis.

Contribute to strategic planning.

Develop performance measurements and budget targets.

Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.

Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk, including foreign currency fluctuation.

Liaise with auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up-to-date.

Compliance:
Ensure that all of the company’s financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation.

Update and implement financial policies and procedures.

Ongoing financial risk assessment and exceptions referred to WTA Board,

Digital:

Review current financial systems and processes.

Initiate and deliver full integration of the financial module in CargoWise.

Ensure that the company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.

Communication:
Weekly check in with Managing Director to discuss challenges, successes and direction.

Weekly check in with Financial Controller to discuss challenges, success and direction.

Contribute to monthly management meeting by raising ideas for discussion and offering solutions to current business challenges.

Contribute to quarterly Board meetings by raising strategic ideas for discussion and offering solutions to current business challenges.

Quarterly KPI review with the Managing Director.

Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with all senior managers and their teams.

Build relationships with key clients.

Skills and experience required

Strong experience working as Senior Finance professional for a medium sized business, ideally within the Freight Forwarding Industry, with a proven track record successfully delivered excellence for the Finance team and the wider business.

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, AAT)

Advanced qualification in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.

Experienced in International point of sale transactions.

Experience of Foreign exchange.

Excellent project manager and creative thinker.

Strong experience in finance leadership.

Experience as an active contributor to a growth agenda and the ability to demonstrate how you have successfully impacted the business.

Technically astute with strong IT skills.

Strong strategic thinking and broad business understanding.

Excellent communication skills at a managerial and operational level.

Energetic and highly motivated to generate growth and success.

Thorough understanding of business principles and practices and good governance.

Able to use financial analysis to facilitate change by working closely with, or providing a service to a number of different departments.

Ability to apply analytical skills beyond the traditional functions of finance and to bring them to bear on a broad range of commercial issues.

Comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change.

The ability to see the value in the information you provide and to inspire others to make use of it.
