About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Finance Director on behalf of a globally renowned eCommerce distribution business.

There is an extremely attractive salary, car allowance and bonus on offer with this role, plus 25 days holiday + statutory and pension. Initially this is a 12 month fixed term contract with the view to it becoming a permanent appointment.

Scope of the Role:

This role is integral to supporting the Chief Finance Officer, Senior Leadership Team and the Board in providing accurate and insightful financial information. Working as a business partner to both business management and the corporate finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing a team of circa 20 people you will be responsible for:
Improving the control environment of the business covering the key financial processes from revenue cycle, Accounting and Controls, Purchase cycle and their respective Managers/Supervisors.

Providing leadership and development to the team.

Recommending and implementing capability improvements required to meet the business needs.

Working closely with the MD of finance to support any integrations.

Managing the accurate submission to the group for forecasts and actual results.

Overseeing the relationship with external audit.

Working with group finance in both Europe and the US to ensure transparency and credibility.

Working with the wider operations and IT leadership teams to improve information flow and provide insight into business performance.

Adopting and ensuring adherence to company process and policy (finance, procurement and legal)

Deputising for the MD of finance when required.

Improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance across all departments.

Providing big data analysis to deliver insight that link financial data to business strategies.

Developing and supporting the financial KPI targets for the management team.

Financial:
Support the company’s accounting functions – Finance, Accounting/Controls, and Purchase Ledger.

Provide effective financial procedures, or initiate change, to ensure key operational, commercial, and financial targets are delivered.

Drive financial planning and analysis and contribute to strategic planning.

Develop performance measurements and budget targets.

Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.

Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk, including credit risk.

Liaise with auditing services to ensure all financial monitoring is kept up to date.

Compliance:
Ensure on-time delivery of Statutory Accounts and audit.

Support the internal audit team and ensure all systems and working practices meet IA requirements.

Ensure all the company’s financial practices are in line in Corporate SOPs and statutory regulations and legislation.

Ongoing financial risk assessment and exceptions referred to the Managing Director of Finance and the wider senior management team.

Digital/Systems:
Ensure that the company financial systems and processes are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.

Communication:
Weekly check in with Managing Director of Finance to discuss challenges, successes, and direction.

Contribute to monthly management meeting by raising ideas for discussion and offering solutions to current business challenges.

Monthly KPI review with the Managing Director of Finance.

Build partnerships and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Senior management, Audit partners and key clients.

The Person:
It’s imperative you have a strong track record of managing a finance function and will be a qualified accountant with strong technical skills.

You will have experience of managing a diverse team ensuring they develop, grow and embrace the People, Service, Profit, and culture of the business.

You must be able to effectively communicate with all levels within the company and the wider group.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyse data and turn into meaningful information.

Skills and experience required

Strong experience working as a Senior Finance professional ideally within the logistics industry and/or top tier audit firm, with a proven track record of successfully delivering excellence for the Finance team and the wider business.

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA). Advanced qualification in accounting, business, finance, or a related field desirable. Knowledge of US GAAP and UK GAAP.

Experienced in International point of sale transactions and regulatory environment.

Excellent project manager and creative thinker, technically astute with strong IT skills.

Strong strategic thinking and broad business understanding.

Excellent communication skills at a managerial and operational level.

Energetic and highly motivated to generate growth and success.

Thorough understanding of business principles and practices and good governance.
