Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Head of UK & European Transport, on behalf of a rapidly growing, extremely innovative eCommerce distribution business.

This is an insane opportunity for a top operator to be accountable for the scale up of the UK & European Transport side of this multimillion turnover business, have a voice and make the division his/her own.

You will inherit a well-functioning Transport & Logistics team who perform to a high standard, but who are acutely aware that the next stage is needed now and leadership is required to move further towards their vision & strategy to raise the output!

You will be setting and achieving the agenda to offer our client the infrastructure to become a recognised leader in UK & European Transport.

Your Mission:

As the Head of Transport, you will be the driving force behind the success of the Transport Team in the UK & Europe, ensuring timely and quality delivery, whilst managing an ambitious yet achievable transport budget.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning, management and profitability of the UK and European transport operations, ensuring that the transportation is cost efficient and profitable.

Ensuring effective management. Working with customers, partners and office staff, scheduling delivery times and coordinating transport routes and daily schedules for the UK and Europe.

Managing partnerships across the UK & Europe, fostering collaborative success.

Staying abreast of all UK and EU road legislations – managing and implementing appropriate changes and updates.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, leading the department to achieve the “company’s “and “your” vision.

Actively seeking ways to improve systems and processes to keep up with the rapid growth of the business. Continuous improvement is imperative.

Ensuring orders are delivered on time, maintaining the required quality, and staying within budget – Delivery Excellence is key.

Creating a safe working environment for all team members within the department.

Collaborating with the Finance team to manage the transport department budget effectively.

Ensuring the department is adequately resourced to meet customer service levels through a robust recruitment and onboarding process.

Providing leadership and support to your team, instilling a growth mindset and creating development plans.

Driving high standards across the department, promoting best-in-class workings.

Providing concise and relevant reporting of department performance and KPIs to the Senior Leadership Team.

Developing a comprehensive training program for the department, ensuring continuous skill enhancement.

Skills and experience required

Proven experience managing multimillion Transport Operations across the UK & Europe.

A born leader, top operator and someone who is used to working in a fast paced, agile, ever changing working environment.

Expertise in logistics management procedures and best practices is essential.

Strong leadership skills with a background demonstrating high level communication with Key Stakeholders.

Previous experience managing employment and disciplinary procedures.

Ability to identify the mentoring, coaching and development needs of your team – and devising plans to help others to improve their knowledge and skills.

Demonstrable ability and proven track record managing cost budgets.

Drive and determination to consistently deliver excellent customer service.

Proven ability to identify, evaluate and implement operational improvement initiatives.

Strong knowledge of transport and customer service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to travel as and when required.
