Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Business Development Manager to be based out of either Bradford or Sheffield, on behalf of a rapidly growing, privately owned logistics business.

Our client has engaged with Vidu VIP to commence the initial search.

Our team of dedicated consultants will be your first point of contact when applying for this role.

£35,000-£40,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus fully expensed car, uncapped commission structure, package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Your Mission:

Due to ongoing growth, our client are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven sales professional to join their team.

You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building, and maintaining strong relationships with customers, and driving growth across all of our clients services.

Key Responsibilities:

Identify potential clients in target industries to expand the company’s customer base across all services available utilising an array of techniques including but not limited to cold calling, telesales, business social media, trade shows, competitor analysis.

Establish and lead on the end-to-end sales process of identified customers and execute strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and revenue goals.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders in customers organisations and updating the CRM accordingly to ensure pipeline management is optimum.

Collaborate with internal teams to customise the ‘solution’ that meet the specific needs of our existing and prospective customers.

Lead negotiations and contract discussions with customers, ensuring favourable terms and agreements for both parties.

Supporting the ongoing brand and marketing expansion/position of the business.

Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitive activities to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks and report to leadership team accordingly.

Prepare and deliver persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and pitches to prospective customers.

Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics, including pipeline activity, win/loss ratios, and revenue forecasts (weekly), to track progress and identify areas for improvement (monthly)

Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote brand awareness and network with potential clients.

Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on sales activities, market trends, and competitive intelligence.

Help to shape the company’s long-term objectives and determine plans on how to meet them.

Support the ongoing research into new/emerging markets alongside product development strategies.

Key Objectives:

Driving Sales & Revenue: Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve £468k per annum (£300k this financial year) of revenue and drive growth across all our core service offerings.

Identify ongoing growth opportunities: Continuously research, analyse market trends, customer needs, industry sectors and competitor landscapes to identify an ongoing positive pipeline and area for customer expansion. Develop and nurture relationships with potential clients, strategic partners and key stakeholders to facilitate business growth and secure new opportunities for collaboration– all documented through the CRM system.

Enhance Brand Visibility & Market Presence: Support the Marketing objectives by implementing marketing initiatives as appropriate, participate in industry events and leverage digital channels to enhance brand visibility and establish our client as a genuine leader in their industry, driving customer retention and acquisition.

Collaboration, product Development, initiatives and launches: Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive the development and launch of new products and/or services, ensuring alignment to market needs and business objectives. Improve visibility and engagement of prospective customers across all functions from early stages of the sales process.

Support the development and ongoing improvements in CRM: Support the Commercial Director in the business adoption of CRM system (Zoho or otherwise). A review is being conducted on the functionality, use of CRM – your role will be pivotal in ensuring it is both fit for purpose and it adoption.

Skills and experience required

Previous track record selling Parcels, Freight Forwarding, Pallets, General Haulage, Distribution.

Confident in selling and presenting to board level.

An excellent level of insight into the market and customer needs and the drivers of customer experience.

The ability to respond and work at pace on a variety of projects.

Outgoing/engaging and confident individual.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Microsoft Office package.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Pro-active individual with ability to self-manage.

Strong team player keen to work across departments and develop clear recommendations using multiple data sources.

Willing to question and critically evaluate current ways of working.
