About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Heathrow Branch Manager on behalf of an Award Winning Freight Forwarding business.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned Branch Manager or General Manager to put their own stamp on a brand new site in Heathrow, working closely with the board of directors to source the office, build a team and significantly grow their already successful Airfreight division.

Your Mission:

Reporting directly into the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the development of our clients airfreight product. You will be required to achieve set goals and objectives, agreed with the Board of Directors, with a key focus on the delivery of best-in-class customer service and supporting with the growth of the airfreight product.

Key Responsibilities:

Achieve agreed financial targets for both new and existing business.

Drive the commercial development of clients, client acquisitions, and service development.

Ensure the appropriate structure and staffing to support the performance delivery.

Drive forward operation efficiencies to increase productivity levels.

Carry out such ad hoc projects and other tasks as requested by the Director of Customer Experience.

Act with integrity at all times in the best interests of the Board of Directors.

Develop airfreight agent network.

Key Objectives:

Financial:
Responsible for delivering Branch financial performance as required by the Board of Directors and to prepare business and budget, business plans together with regular reporting in line with Company requirements.
Identify ways of improving performance and RoI to deliver or exceed company targets

Operations:
With a change mindset, drive continuous improvements to day-to-day operations, and identify opportunities to provide best in class supply chain management solutions to clients.
Implement improved reporting and controls to measure and monitor the performance of the operations.
Review and appraise all suppliers, and ensure all suppliers proactively managed with agreed KPIs and SLAs.
Regular assessment of our partners and help identifying new partners or services.
Measure the effectiveness of the operations function through KPIs that drive continuous improvement and
value into the business.
Ensure that regular communication with staff includes the objectives of the business; performance required and achieved and includes monthly intranet updates and preparation of the quarterly team meeting briefs.
Enforcing the culture of a balance of entrepreneurial skills and corporate governance.
with core values throughout the business whilst maintaining enthusiasm and strong work ethic.
Liaison with key customers / suppliers on a regular basis to ensure service levels.
Act as an escalation point for critical issues and customer service complaints.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices etc.

Commercial:
Acquisition of new customers and driving commercial development.
Leading the account development program for Airfreight customers.
Development and promotion of technology driven solutions.
Develop new revenue streams from existing customer base by improved focus on key account management.
Development and strengthening of existing Agency Network.
Identification and implementation of new activities/business sectors/ routings/trading partnerships to support the growth in profitable operations.
Cross selling of services to all customers.

Human Resources:

Provide effective and inspiring leadership.
Empowerment and development of competent staff and management personnel including mentoring of
direct line manager reports.
Regular appraisal meetings setting objectives in line with the Company’s goals and to provide succession
management.

Skills and experience required

Demonstrable experience of delivering growth and performance in general management of a freight forwarding and / or supply chain business with freight activities operating in a multi-national environment with a number of product sectors, route partnerships and key customers.

Experience in business development, business reorganisation and resource management & development.

Strong interpersonal skills in a multi-national environment, capability of evaluation of all business dynamics, demonstrate reasoned judgement and be able to provide strong corporate management ethics and processes within an entrepreneurial environment

Be change minded, with a drive to continuously improve.

Demonstrable team management and team leadership experience.

Flexibility for national and international travel and business support as and when required.

The ability and experience to be involved in the management of a global business and an understanding of the flexibility of working practices to support and deliver.
