Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for an Automation Engineer, on behalf of a rapidly growing, tech focused eCommerce distribution business.

£60,000 – £70,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus KPI related bonus, industry leading benefits package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.
Your Mission:
You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, servicing, and repair of conveyor systems. The role includes call-out response for urgent breakdowns and coordinating with third-party contractors to ensure high standards of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and execute a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all conveyor belt systems.
Respond to urgent repair call-outs to minimise downtime and ensure operational continuity.
Perform diagnostics, repairs and adjustments on mechanical and electrical components of conveyor belts.
Conduct regular system inspections and maintain detailed service records.
Manage and oversee the work of third party contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with safety, cost and quality standards.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with external suppliers and vendors.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying potential upgrades or system enhancements.
Provide support and technical guidance to on-site teams during equipment installations or refurbishments.
Support Operation Team to achieve Department KPI’s.
Proven experience working with industrial conveyor belt systems.
Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance, belt alignment, pulley systems, belt splicing and belt replacement techniques.
Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working flexible hours when needed.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently under pressure .
Ability to read an interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and third-party contractors.
Valid driving license (essential for travel between sites and emergency call outs)
Safety certifications ( e.g LOTO, Working at Heights, Confined Space) highly desirable.
Education:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Maintenance.
Experience with automated conveyor systems of PLC integration.
IOSH/NEBOSH Health and Safety certification.
