Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for an Air Freight Import Operator, on behalf of a rapidly growing, privately owned Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain company.

Our client has engaged with Vidu VIP to commence the initial search.

£35,000 – £38,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus company profit share bonus, 25 days holiday plus statutory, pension, package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Your Mission:

To support the Import Operations Manager with the smooth running of our clients Import Air Operations, whilst delivering excellent service to assigned clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Complete the UK operations in its entirety for allocated clients and overseas agents with the highest level of service excellence.

Take on bookings for our clients controlled business from their Customer Excellence team, by converting quotes to bookings / shipments and managing the shipment through to shipped on board / pre-alert stage.

Actively negotiate with hauliers and partners ensuring best rates for clients.

Ensure all business is performed in the most cost-effective way.

Develop positive partnerships with clients, agents and suppliers.

Assist with holiday cover across different modes of transport within the Import team.

Proactively work with both the Customer Excellence and the Outsource team to always ensure service excellence to clients.

Proactively resolve incoming queries raised within the team and respond with clear and timely responses.

Escalate any business-critical matters to the Import Manager & Head of Operations.

Put forward new ideas for efficiency and client service excellence to the Operations manager.

Support the operational integration of new clients into the outsourcing team.

Ensure that all invoicing, profits, WIP’s and accruals are complete, in line with company policy.

Assist with Import pricing for overseas partners.

Compliance:
Deliver full compliance to the company credit policy throughout the team in conjunction with the Finance team.

At all times represent and act in the best interest of the company, the shareholders and the employees.

Complete other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested.

Work in accordance with the company values to maintain a positive environment with all teams across all departments.

Have a comprehensive understanding of client and operational requirements to ensure service excellence standards are met and exceeded.

Support the delivery of efficient working practices.

Skills and experience required

Previous experience working in Air Freight Import Operations.

Multimodal experience would be advantageous.

Good understanding of Cargowise would be a distinct advantage.

Strong organisation skills.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong attention to detail.

Proven track record delivering operational excellence.
