Role/Responsibilities:

Reporting directly into the Air Freight Manager you will be responsible for a team of 6 -7 direct reports.

You will be tasked with:

The smooth handling of Export and Import Air/Sea Freight Shipments (Handling all quotations and arranging import/export bookings)

Providing high levels of Customer Service, ensuring all customers are updated with the status of their shipments in addition to dealing with enquiries and problem solving on behalf of yourself and your team.

Completing and overseeing the completion of Customs Entries.

High levels of effective communication with our clients UK Customers and Overseas Partners/Offices.

Investigating and planning the most appropriate route for a shipment and booking, tracking and updating shipment milestones to all relevant parties.

Costing Jobs and financial responsibility, including raising invoices and the passing of purchase invoices in accordance with our clients financial guidelines.

Obtaining, checking and preparing documentation to meet customs and insurance requirements, packing specifications, and compliance with other countries’ regulations and fiscal regimes.

Managing Accounts.

Ensuring effective communication with our clients customers to ensure documents/clearance instructions are available.

Import and Export – entries/clearances.

Ensuring all shipment data is entered correctly and timely into the relevant operating system.

Skills and experience required

A proven track-record of successfully managing teams within Air Freight Import and Export departments.

Extremely Customer-centric with experience of compiling quotes.

Driven, passionate and have a desire to want to make a difference with a good team-spirit.

Operationally sound with experience of working direct with carriers or via an internal AFR Gateway (hub)

Understanding of HAWB’s/MAWB’s/HMRC requirements/Incoterms etc.

Must be fiscally strong to “own” the profitability on the file to optimise the GP opportunities. (It’s imperative you have an understanding of P&L basics to ensure profitability)

Commercially-aware and confident with experience of attending face to face meetings with customers.

High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.
