About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for an entrepreneurial Business Development Manager, on behalf of a rapidly growing international supply chain management and freight forwarding company.

Our client are ideally looking for someone with strong experience within the food and beverage industry as this is fast-growing part of their business.

This role sits within the UK Sales team, targeting companies with imports into the UK and exports out of the UK.

£50,000 -£60,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus £6,000 car allowance, uncapped commission structure, excellent emoluments package and fantastic opportunities for career development and progression.

Key Responsibilities:

To grow the business and hit GP targets year on year, primarily but not limited to new logo food and beverage customers.

To be s self-starter.

Prospecting against a target account list.

Capitalising on marketing activity and interactions with marketing campaigns.

Leveraging your contacts built over your career in the UK food and beverage industry.

A strong networker, maximising the various societies and associations our client are members of to build out a strong pipeline at speed.

Regular event attendance and speaking opportunities as needed.

To be accountable for building a pipeline and showcasing the activity you are completing to build a pipeline and close deals by updating and using HubSpot to its fullest.

To work with the Marketing team to feed into campaign activity constructively to generate stronger leads and create a kit bag for helping you secure opportunities at speed.

To be at face-to-face meetings and networking at least twice a week.

Communication:

HubSpot to be up-to-date and all emails, calls and meetings logged.

Input into the monthly SLT report, to provide narrative to the KPIS being measured.

Attend weekly team meetings, huddles and 1:1s.

Have Teams open, and a communication channel to chat to other remote members of the team, as though on a bank of desks.

Skills and experience required

At least five years’ experience in a sales role, and able to evidence meeting and/or achieving targets.

Strong experience in the food and beverage industry, networking within that industry, and a regular at food events and exhibitions.

Experience of freight forwarding, international supply chains, imports and/or exports.

An order creator, not simply an order taker, as due to the nature of our business inbound, fully formed opportunities are limited.

Consultative value selling, shaping opportunities with the customer and building long-term relationships.

Highly skills negotiator, able to create influence maps and win strategies on large opportunities.

Excellent networking skills and public speaking.

Exceptional organisational skills, able to work on long term, slow burning projects but balancing with the speed needed on quick turnaround low GP projects, and balance with networking and meetings.

Willingness to travel across the UK regularly to build stronger relationships and reduce the win timeframes.

Technical knowledge of the food and beverage industry, and an understanding of supply chain pain points.
