About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Business Development Manager in the South East of England, with a proven track record of success selling Air and Ocean Freight, on behalf of a super innovative, technology focused, Freight Forwarding business.

You be required to be onsite 2 days a week, with 2 days a week on the road with clients and 1 day a week from home.

£50,000 – £60,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus car allowance, 6% of all GP for the lifetime of the account, industry leading emoluments package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Key Responsibilities:

Generate leads and cold call prospective customers (create a sales pipeline)

Generate custom from said pipeline.

Meet with clients face to face, over the phone / Teams etc.

Build / develop relationships with clients.

Understand the needs of your clients and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet/exceed these.

Have a good understanding of our client’s services and the ability to advise customers about the solutions on offer.

Skills and experience required

Proven track record of success, selling Air and Ocean Freight is essential.

Excellent telephone manner for making initial contact and for ongoing communication with clients and business associates.

Strong interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships with clients.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills – needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as good presentation skills.

Strong IT skills, including the use of spreadsheets.

Ability to work well autonomously and collaborative well as part of a team.

Flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.

Initiative and the confidence to start things from scratch.

Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets.

The ability to multitask and prioritise your workload.
