About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Business Development Manager on behalf of a rapidly growing, technology focused express logistics business.

£40,000 basic salary, plus full expensed car, 3% billed revenue incentive scheme (OTE circa £80,000) benefits package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Your Mission:

Reporting directly into the Head of Sales you will be tasked with building close and effective working relationships with a network of contacts within prospective customers within the Government Sector and exceeding your personal new business target / budget.

Developing and implementing a government market sector development plan within this division of our client’s business.

Identifying and qualifying customer opportunities for new product sales.

Developing a good working relationship with all other Group departments.

Developing and managing the new business plan.

Managing the entire sales process – prospect, negotiate and close business deals.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with the Head of Sales to implement the new business plan for the Government sector.

Define target list of customer prospects based on clearly defined criteria that maximises return for our client.

Achieve and exceed sales targets in line with our client’s growth plans for this division.

Work with the Bid Management Team, to deliver effective tender responses to specific customer opportunities.

Demonstrate strong knowledge of our clients Group product portfolio and all associated features and benefits and to tailor those benefits to the needs of the customer.

Track performance of new customers and ensure that they trade to the profile agreed.

Submit accurate and timely business forecasts.

Use the sales tools in line with the agreed sales process to maintain and develop sales pipeline and customer information.

Measures:

Achievement of new business budget.

Retention of all new customers gained.

Profile Reviews completed for all new customers gained, within the first month of the commencement of trade with our client.

New customers paying in accordance with payment terms agreed when opening their account with our client.

Skills and experience required

Extensive experience working within sales/business development within either the mail or courier sector.

Experience of developing a customer base within Government departments is highly desirable but not essential.

Knowledge of the Crown Commercial Services Framework is highly desirable but not essential.

Results driven, self-confident individual with an ability to empathise with clients at all levels.

Ability to work well alone and as part of a team.

Consistent drive and energy and a positive attitude.

Flexible work ethic.

Strong new business sales skills (prospecting, qualifying, networking and campaign management).

Detailed understanding of sales process and demonstration of world class sales rigor, hunger, and determination.

Proven track record of closing major opportunities.

Professional sales and negotiating training.

Proven sales ability with historic success at exceeding new business targets, whilst excelling at customer retention through professional account management, development, and planning skills.

Excellent presentation skills.

Problem solving abilities; able to facilitate discussions.

Able to travel nationwide and able to work with the minimum of supervision. While there is a requirement to travel nationally, the majority of activity will be within the greater London area.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Word, Email, Access, Power Point).
