About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Consol Development Manager on behalf of a rapidly growing, technology focused, Freight Forwarding/Supply Chain company.

This is effectively an inside sales role where you will be tasked with sourcing and developing new business from within an existing customer portfolio.

£40,000 basic salary, plus new business commission, company bonus, package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Our client has engaged with Vidu VIP to commence the initial search.

Scope of the Role:

Achieving annual GP target for new business, primarily derived from the development of our clients own groupage services. Increasing average container GP growth targets on existing groupage services.

Key Responsibilities:

Use database of prospective, current and lost clients to source development opportunities for export and import business.

Identify other means of further developing the prospect database.

Issue quotations to clients and conduct prospect / client visits or telephone and video calls as required.

Manage smooth transition of new business into the CSM team to include full SOPs.

Enhance our clients consol offering ensuring suppliers are best in class.

Develop the consol product into new markets.

Work with colleagues as required, to support new business development opportunities.

Obtain referrals from existing clients.

Maintain up to date information on prospects in the sales and marketing database and ensure all activity and pipeline information is logged.

Ensure sales pipeline remains sufficient to enable targets to be achieved.

Drive business development in conjunction with key overseas partners.

Review and challenge existing costs and suppliers used on all groupage services, recommending alternative solutions where applicable.

Set weekly sell rates for each groupage service.

Create SLAs to be used by colleagues and overseas partners, including weekly review with the relevant parties, to ensure optimal use of our clients groupage containers.

Identify opportunities to add new groupage routes from new origins or to new destinations.

Compliance:

Ensure full compliance to the current credit policy.

Ensure that all legal matters are passed to the Compliance Manager for review.

At all times represent and act in the best interests of the company, the shareholders and the employees.

Marketing:

Liaise closely with the marketing department to ensure effective marketing of products, services and expertise to prospective clients.

Create joint sales and marketing strategies with overseas partners where applicable.

Teamwork:

Regular liaison with colleagues in operations and CSM departments, as well as overseas colleagues and partners.

Skills and experience required

Previous import and export business development experience is essential.

Previous sales experience within Freight Forwarding/Supply Chain.

Ability to identify and build professional relationships internally and externally.

Strong organisation skills.

Ability to convert prospects to secured business.

Empathetic to customers pains and the ability to identify opportunities and propose solutions.

Have a natural service excellence approach.

Ability to communicate with prospects, clients, colleagues and overseas partners at all levels.
