Overall Role Purpose:
To manage successful implementation and execution of the Ecommerce products across our clients express business.
The programmes consist of multiple projects that affect systems, productivity, processes and customer service. The strategic purpose of the role is to work with all functions to understand Ecommerce and to ensure that our clients UK Business Unit is operationally and commercially ready to deal with the future of Ecommerce. You will be tasked with translating regional (European) aspects into UK initiatives, and driving justification for executing or ceasing projects.
The role ensures coordination between projects, having an overview of all projects relating to Ecommerce strategy, and applies PRINCE2 methodology to all aspects. Without this role, projects would not have the correct direction, prioritisation and strategy applied to them. This role is multi-dimensional and will capture Customer needs, market trends and innovative solutions to drive Ecommerce products.
You will take overall responsibility for the product portfolio and drive product revenue performance and product quality by devising, implementing, communicating and monitoring product development, management and marketing plans, product improvement projects and sales Channels support initiatives.
Specific Role Focus:
You will be responsible for managing the in-country deployment of new resources critical to the successful delivery of the Ecommerce project to achieve set business benefits & mitigate potential risk for the business. You must have the ability to influence management colleagues, outside of direct line management, to implement projects plans while maintaining awareness and focus on managing operational costs within agreed levels.
Specific Role Challenges:
Focus on achieving operational and commercial readiness for Ecommerce strategy within agreed cost parameters, through the deployment of various resources to support achievement of business expectations at both UK & EU level.
Accountabilities:
Customer & Market Focus:
To ensure that our clients product portfolio meets and continues to meet or exceed market and customer requirements.
To conduct market analysis of your product portfolio, including market share, growth rates, segmentation, NPD (new product development ) opportunities, competitor situation and understanding of customer needs, to feed into the annual M&S planning process.
To champion the customer experience of your products, highlighting successes and working across the business to rectify deficiencies and drive improvement or change.
Leading and driving relevant external events, strategic presence, passionate role model in the market.
Product Development:
To manage the overall product development programme and specific product development projects within the overall programme.
To implement new or updated products, features, services, policies, guidelines or alternative channels in conjunction with the relevant functions e.g.Operations, IT, Billing, Customer Services, Sales, Marketing etc.
To manage the roll-out of the new product portfolio.
To support UK, European and Global product development initiatives as appropriate.
Planning and organising is fundamental to the role, planning of all projects and deliverables over a 5 year period to account for all aspects of Ecommerce Planning and managing projects, as directed by the VP of Ecommerce.
Driving Performance:
To ensure that your product portfolio meets or exceeds revenue and performance targets.
To implement timely sales & marketing campaigns with the rest of the Marketing team that support product revenue targets, with planned measurement tools to evaluate the return on investment and the effectiveness of the campaign.
To work with the Sales Channels and Sales Support teams (e.g. training) on issues or areas that need extra focus or support to drive the product’s revenue performance.
To ensure continuous focus on product quality for every aspect which makes up the service: operational performance, billing, sales channels, etc.
Forecasting & Planning:
To produce the annual forecast for existing and new product portfolio revenues.
To produce a regular update of the product’s anticipated year end (and year end + 1) position in terms of revenue versus budget.
To produce product marketing plans and recommendations (including Product, Price, Place and Promotion) for the company’s annual M&S planning process, in line with corporate objectives.
Product Analysis:
To produce monthly reports on the overall performance of your product portfolio including development progress.
Process/Project Management:
In conjunction withBP&A, Market Development and the Sales Channels, provide input to monthly performance reports showing“rootcause”analysis of the key issues (e.g.product KPIs, lane/industry/saleschannel trends, marketshare, top customer analysis, up/downtrading, competitor activity etc.)
To monitor product service levels on an ongoing basis to ensure they are in line with customer expectations and competitor performance levels.
Run and manage high level communication to the Ecommerce and Sales community.
Ensure that the strategy achieves the objectives that have been set and that the business benefits.
Support Ecommerce in the organisation of strategic meetings and work in conjunction with all departments in the management of various work streams around specific Ecommerce projects with key players from all the various levels/depts.
Keep all stakeholders up to date to ensure their active participation and commitment.
Report on progress of the Ecommerce project to Main Board and VP of Ecommerce.
Liaise with European programme manager to ensure solutions developed for the UK are in line with national priorities and strategies.
People – Management:
A strong working relationship needs to be established and maintained with a variety of people/functions at country & regional levels.
Take responsibility for the Ecommerce Strategy and obtain maximum productivity in ensuring that projects are completed within planned timescales.
This role is recognised as a Senior role within our clients business.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Ecommerce or logistics, working with Ecommerce products/strategy.
A sound understanding of the Ecommerce function, people, processes and technologies and their implications and potential for our clients business and their customers.
PRINCE2 qualified.
Educated to a degree level or equivalent (Business or Marketing desirable)
Strong inter-personal and communications skills.
Excellent analysis and problem solving skills.
Excellent project management skills.
Able to work independently within broadly established parameters, must demonstrate self initiative.
Ability to think “outside the box”, creative, innovative and drive changes.
