Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a commercially focused Finance Director on behalf of a rapidly growing logistics business.
Reporting directly into the UK Managing Director, you will have 6 direct reports and take local ownership for all accounting topics.

£80,000-£85,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus car allowance, bonus, package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Role & Responsibilities:
As Finance Director you will play a crucial part in the regional finance function.
Main responsibilities will lay within accounting and formal reporting and leadership of the local finance function team. With that said the overall direction of the UK and pan EMEA finance function is switching from a traditional accounting focus to a “value-add” focus, i.e. the local Finance Director is crucial in making that transition. This means that the goal is to use financial data in order to improve the quality of decision making, thus impacting the profitability of the commercial side of the business.
Our clients business is ran through a “business is local” mind-set so it is imperative the Managing Director and Finance Director have a strong partnership and that the Finance Director supports the Managing Director with financial insight and input.
Furthermore, the responsibility within F&A spans from creating management presentations and reports to really getting into specific details concerning cost structure and pricing. The majority of your time will be put into execution, but it’s also imperative that as Finance Director you are able to draw business-oriented conclusions from the financial data and make suggestions on how to improve / take the next step. For such controlling topics there will be close work relations with the Regional Controller.
In addition to the F&A responsibilities, HR administration and general business administration also falls under the finance function. The general idea is that the finance function should form the backbone of the organisation, thus enabling the Managing Director to focus more on the commercial part of the business.
Responsibilities:
Accounting:
Local ownership of all accounting topics
Responsible for meeting all legal standards in accordance with UK Law
Responsible for timely delivery of month end accounting activities
Reporting:
Ownership of monthly review presentation
Ownership of local budgeting process
Coordination of weekly review presentation
Ownership of fixed costs in P&L
Controlling:
Responsibility for GM analysis
Responsibility for fixed cost analysis
Coordination of full P&L budgeting & forecasting
Ownership of fixed cost part
HR: To be developed together with Regional Controller – General HR coordination.
Local salary administration
Onboarding practices
Offboarding practices
Communication: Develop and maintain the communication channels and processes for finance related topics.
Other: Support EMEA FD and EMEA MD with business planning process.
General purchasing responsibility.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a qualified role with similar requirements, ideally within the logistics sector.
Experience working internationally/Cross border would be desirable but not essential.
Advanced skills in MS Excel and good skills in MS PowerPoint.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
Experienced using CRM systems/data.
Good understanding of process flows.
Ability to work well autonomously and well as part of a team.
Excellent understanding of accounting practices.
It would be desirable if you have worked actively with MS dynamics and have built reports in PowerBI, but it’s not essential.
