About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Freight Forwarder to work on the Contract Logistics side of our clients business.

Our client has engaged with Vidu VIP to carry out the initial search process.

Our team of dedicated consultants will be your first point of contact when applying for this role.

Scope of the role:

To control the collection and delivery of goods on behalf of all customers.

To ensure that consistently high service levels are achieved, which meet, and when possible exceed the performance targets as set by all customers to ensure that the profitability of all contracts are maximised.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Provide an efficient and cost-effective collection and delivery service by properly using group and subcontracted resources.

To supply enough haulage to ensure that service standards are met.

To match collections to deliveries to the satisfaction of the customer, whilst bearing in mind the need to operate in a cost-effective way.

To keep the customer always advised, especially in the unlikely event of any service failures.

Liaise closely with the haulier to ensure that they have full and accurate information to complete the job.

Once delivery is completed update the in-house computer system to invoicing stage, ensure all information is correct.

Prepare for period end in line with accounting procedures.

Update systems to enable profit levels to be measured and provide weekly profit margin report.

Deal with any queries or service issues and identify any potential new business opportunities.

Ensure all statutory requirements are met. Specifically relating to hazardous loads and documentation.

Raise service incidents and insurance claim files as appropriate.

Manage key accounts as requested ensuring close relationships to the mutual benefit of both company and customer.

Be familiar with and understand all Core and Support procedures relevant to this role as identified by the immediate Manager.

Occasional requirement to plan European and UK Road loads using client SAP systems as and when required.

Be aware of, and act in accordance with our clients policies.

Carry out any other duties which may reasonably be required by your manager.

Skills and experience required

A proven track record working as a Freight Forwarder ideally with European and UK Road Freight experience.

A minimum of 3 years experience in a customer focused operational role.

The ability to manage a job from start to finish.

Strong communication skills, and the ability to liaise with people at all levels competently and professionally.

Accurate keyboard skills and a keen eye for detail.

Good knowledge of computer packages (Microsoft)

Good organisational skills including the ability to prioritise your own workload.

Educated to a minimum of GCSE standard with Maths and English awarded at Grades A to C.

It would be desirable if you spoke a European language but not essential.
