Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Head of Procurement – Nationally, on behalf of a rapidly growing, multimodal transportation and logistics company.

Having recently initiated a transformation of their Procurement function, our client are now looking for an experienced and ambitious Head of Procurement to be in charge of their Procurement function and its future development and positioning within the business and the wider Group.

£100,000+ basic salary (dependent on experience) fully expensed car, travel expenses, bonus structure, 28 days holiday plus statutory, pension scheme and package.

Key Responsibilities:

Continue the Procurement transformation our client have embarked on.

Apply a hands-on approach toward a sophisticated Procurement function embedded in a matrix structure.

Support driving state of the art methods, processes and tools with regard to Strategic Procurement (e.g., material group management, supplier management, pooling of demands, framework agreements, best cost country sourcing).

Co-create and implement with all relevant stakeholders a category and supplier management structure.

Derive and execute appropriate strategies.

Align with various colleagues from the production units and sales teams how to best drive spend optimisation and create value for customers.

Execute tactical Procurement initiatives as agreed and prioritised with all stakeholders, in particular the production units.

Regularly and consequently track progress and report milestones and achievements to the management team whilst enabling all critical success factors to be in place and in use.

Analyse the procurement data, determine savings opportunities for each category/supplier and derive negotiation strategies to achieve this.

Take personal lead in key negotiations whenever required.

Skills and experience required

Broad, documented Procurement experience and track record, preferably based in logistics and/or shipping at managerial level.

Strong knowledge of Procurement processes, tools, procedures, and best practices with a hands-on approach.

Excellent communication, engagement and influencing skills and a convincing personality, able to win hearts and minds at all levels.

Enjoy conceptual work in order to build the foundation for the next level of procurement.

Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.

A strong drive to change the status quo and be persistent.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong leadership, team management and development skills.

Hands on negotiation experience.

Willingness to travel occasionally.
