Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for an entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to cover the M4 Corridor on behalf of a rapidly growing express logistics business, whose culture has been built on supporting and developing their employees to realise and fulfil their career aspirations.

Main purpose of role:

You will be tasked with winning new business within your defined geographic region or area.

The overall objective being to grow the total gross margin generated in your region or area and achieve your sales margin targets, ensuring that the customer is aware of the range of products and services our client has to offer.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain effective relationships with new customers and always act with our clients customers in mind, meeting their expectations and requirements by proactively obtaining customer information, recommending a compelling suite of Group products or services, and negotiating contract prices and terms within agreed parameters.

Continuously strive to exceed your new business gross margin target.

Demonstrate the benefits of our clients Group’s products and services and respond appropriately to a customer’s requirements.

Engage in discussions and negotiations with customers to reach a point of mutual agreement keeping commercial factors in mind.

Close and formalise deals between our clients Group and customers with appropriate commercial arrangements.

Generate your own new business opportunities.

Work alongside the support and operations team to ensure that all new customers are set up and managed effectively.

Communicate with heads of departments to attain Operational and Commercial sign off.

Establish a systematic course of action for self and others to ensure accomplishment of sales objectives and goals.

Determine priorities and allocate time and resources effectively.

Develop and implement tactical plans with the Sales Manager or Regional Sales Manager in line with our clients sales strategy for prospects and customers.

Keep up to date with business financials, products and services and those of our clients competitors.

Use sales tools in line with the agreed sales process to maintain and develop pipeline and customer information.

Attend team meetings and contribute as necessary on own individual performance, prepare for manager review meetings and complete sales reports accurately and on time.

Comply with Company policy and procedures including Health & Safety and accidents.

Skills and experience required

Minimum of 3 years business to business sales experience, selling Sameday, Logistics, 3PL or Parcel services.

Knowledge of business-to-business sales processes and procedures.

Knowledge of the carrier industry would be desirable.

Excellent team player with the ability to work well autonomously.

Tenacious and target driven.

Strong communicator at all levels.

Good commercial acumen.

Ability to present complex information face to face.

Adaptable and able to sell into a diverse customer base.

Proven experience working to and exceeding new business targets.

Experience of completing Sales forecasts and budgets.

IT literate to intermediate level, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.

GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English (A-C)

Involvement in industry bodies or professional associations (desirable not essential)
