About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for an Import Operations Manager on behalf on a very innovative Freight Forwarding/Supply Chain Company.

This role will be based out of Manchester but you must be willing to travel as you will also be supporting a team in the South of England.

Our client has engaged with Vidu VIP to carry out the initial search.

Scope of the role:

Ensure achievement of KPI’s through a well-motivated operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

Have a comprehensive understanding of all core business and the operations requirements to ensure service excellence standards are met and exceeded.

Work seamlessly to support the work of the CSM team, ensuring all SOP’s are adhered to.

Identify and deliver operational efficiencies and productivity gains in conjunction with the IT team for both short and long-term goals.

Identify and deliver increased revenue in line with current KPI’s.

Achieve job profitability targets as specified in the budget, deploying better buying and achieving revenue opportunities.

Have a comprehensive understanding of the current budget, its opportunities and constraints, to deliver the GP v staff cost ratio.

Ensure comprehensive cover for all absence within the team and when required, personally provide cover.

Ensure full compliance of all people to Brexit movements.

Lead the team to ensure that all invoicing, profits, WIP’s and accruals are complete in line with company policy.

Report the EGP by 5th of the following month.

Implement all new business, providing the client with a great experience.

Provide inspired leadership for the team.

Multi skill people throughout the team to deliver a flexible workforce.

Promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale.

Deliver full compliance to the company credit policy throughout the team in conjunction with the Finance team.

Contribute to budgeting, reporting, planning and auditing.

Achieve monthly operational KPI’s as specified.

Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.

Identify and address problems and opportunities.

Develop positive partnerships with clients, agents and suppliers.

At all times represent and act in the best interest of the company, the shareholders and the employees.

Complete other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested.

Work in accordance with the company values to maintain a positive environment with all teams across all departments.

Communication:

Attend weekly check-in meeting with Operations Director.

Attend monthly Operations catch-up meeting.

Deliver monthly staff huddle.

Meetings with clients, partners and suppliers as required.

Report on monthly KPI’s and on required operational standards communication.

Skills and experience required

A comprehensive understanding of client and operational requirements to ensure service excellence standards are met and exceeded.

Experience of successfully running an Import Sea Freight team for a minimum of 2 years.

A proven track record implementing efficient working practices.

Experience with Cargowise would be desirable.

A history of leading the front, inspiring and motivating teams with energy.

Excellent people skills.

The ability to deliver operational excellence.

Proven experience of managing change.

Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
