About this position

Vidu are running a super exciting assignment in the search for a Logistics Operator to be based out of Durham, on behalf of one of the UK’s most successful Transport Groups.

Our client have engaged with Vidu VIP to carry out the initial search process.

Vidu’s team of dedicated consultants will be your first point of contact when applying for this role.

Reporting into the Branch Manager and working very closely with the Sales/Business Development team, you will be responsible for arranging and monitoring shipments to our clients worldwide partners.

It is an extremely exciting, newly created role, which based on the value you add has a flight path to grow with the business to Branch Manager and beyond.

The role will see you liaising with suppliers, and partners to deliver a high level of service to clients.

Main responsibilities include:

Build relationship with customers and developing their accounts.
Oversee and manage day to day customer activities regarding shipments.
Ensure most cost effective approach.
Comply with ISO procedures.
Liaise with carriers and third parties.
Ensure smooth handling of FCL, LCL and cargo meeting clients deadlines and requirements.
Monitoring supplier performance.
Good file management and attention to detail.
Preparing quotes in accordance with clients requests.
Completing required consignment documentation.
Charging of own files.
Assisting colleagues during holidays and staff absences.

Moment of truths handled correctly.
To ensure delivery deadlines and kept by monitoring suppliers.
To develop a good working relationship with your client accounts.
Maintain files in accordance with procedure.
To achieve operational standards.

Skills and experience required

Upwards of 4 years experience within the Freight Forwarding Industry across all modes of transport (Road, Sea and Air) in a similar/same role.
Experience of FCL operating systems (desirable)
Commercially aware in addition to sound operating experience.
Knowledge of Export customs procedures.
Knowledge of Import procedures.
A proven track record of developing client relationships.
Team player with the ability to work autonomously.
Previous experience of preparing quotes and consignment documentation.
Organised, methodical and good file management.
