About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for an entrepreneurial Managing Director to control and oversee all business operations, people and ventures for a globally renowned eCommerce distribution business.

You will be the highest-ranking manager in the organisation and will be responsible for the overall success of the business. The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not diverge from its strategic guidelines.

Circa £150,000 – £190,000 basic salary plus car allowance, KPI related bonus and package.

Your Mission:

You will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the Company’s major objectives and long-term strategy with the view of creating shareholder value.

You will act as a direct liaison between the Board and management of the business and will provide strategic advice to the board on all in-country relevant matters, or where needed involve management team members. In addition, ensuring the board has an accurate and up to date view of the market and the company’s future.

Communicating to the Board, NMC representatives, clients, other stakeholders and employees on company related matters.

Role and Key Responsibilities:

To review and revise an appropriate Business Strategy.

Successful implementation of the approved Business Strategy and ensuring the strategy is clear and well communicated, ensuring engagement from management and all other stakeholders across the business, to deliver on required deliverables.

Devise and implement appropriate business plans to ensure successful achievement of set KPI’s, both individually as well as team and country goals.

Analysed problematic situations and occurrences and provide sustainable solutions to ensure company survival and growth.

Achieve set financial targets related to EBITDA and revenue growth including overseeing the company’s financial performance, investments, and other business ventures.

Devise and implement relevant plans and structures to ensure OTIF target is achieved and maintained.

Ensure the company maintains high standards of corporate governance and compliance to social responsibility requirements wherever they operate.

Grow market presence and market cap.

Ensure that the costs & expenses are within the authorised Budget of the business and monitored frequently to ensure alignment to strategic objectives.

Lead and oversee the implementation of the revenue growth plan in accordance with approved business strategy and ensure the company delivers on the set targets.

Ensure effective internal controls and management information systems are in place and to ensure that the company remains a technological logistics driven business.

Grow revenue streams and implement collaborative partnerships with other European countries.

Ensure that the reporting structures, roles, accountability, and responsibilities are clear within executive structure and managed and monitored appropriately.

Assess the principal risks of the business and ensure that relevant action plans are in place ensuring these risks are mitigated in a timely manner.

Ensure that resources (not only limited to human), skills, incentives and action plans are clearly aligned, implemented, and executed to deliver the strategy

In conjunction with executives, deliver on talent development that will enhance business deliverables.

Ensure frequent management sessions and performance review sessions and intervene as required, to ensure executives indeed deliver on the plan, targets, and deliverables.

Communicate effectively with shareholders, clients, other stakeholders, and employees on business related matters and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners and authorities.

Ensure that the company has appropriate systems to enable it to conduct its activity both lawfully and ethically and become less reliant on manual processes.

Skills and experience required

A minimum of 10 years experience as a Managing Director or in another Director position within eCommerce distribution, international and domestic express logistics or fulfilment.

Demonstrable experience in developing and successfully implemented strategic and business plans.

Thorough knowledge of market changes and forces that will influence the company.

Strong understanding and proven capability of applying corporate finance and measures of performance.

Familiarity with corporate law and management best practices, ethical principles and good corporate governance principles.

Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.

BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA is preferred but not essential.
