About this position

Vidu are running an assignment in the search for a Night Operator on behalf of a leading Global Logistics Provider.

Our client have engaged with Vidu VIP to carry out the initial search process.

They have built an enviable reputation by providing customers with Complete solutions to their Freight Forwarding, Supply Chain Management, UK Warehousing, Distribution, Logistics and Contract Management, Training and Advisory requirements.

You will be working and communicating with other members of the department and your responsibilities include, but are not restricted to:

Supervising the night drivers and night operation

Vehicle and Driver scheduling when required

Recording all movements on the Systems in place and keep a running update of all driver and vehicle whereabouts and next allocated job, and an updated list of work to be covered.

Reacting to any problems that may occur

Using drivers in the most cost effective way noting start and finish times and communicating any discrepancies in their work rate with the manager

Communicating (where possible) with customers at all times notifying them of any delays, discrepancies ect, and recording them in the desk diary & complaints log along with any customer complaints.

Keeping the Tachomaster database up to date and producing tachograph infringement letters through tachograph analysis on a monthly basis for any drivers, including agency who are not complying with legal requirements.

Weekly payroll input

Data input for various departments as required

Regular KPI Analysis as required

General office duties and administration

Be aware of the security of the complex and yard at all times.

Handing over to the next operator at the end of the shift, spending time to communicate all relevant information they will need to carry on where you left off and making sure all systems are up to date.

Keeping your work stations and surrounding areas tidy at all times.

Skills and experience required

This would be an ideal role for a Driver who is used to working nights and wants to come off the road or a former administrator / traffic controller / night operator.

You must be able to demonstrate a previous track record in a similar or same type role

Be computer literate and comfortable using Technology and IT systems

Be a peoples person with good communication skills

Able to work at pace whilst maintaining a high quality of work

Working knowledge of TMS packages and TP skills is highly desirable
