About this position

Vidu are working on an exciting assignment on behalf of a leading Freight Forwarding Company in the search for an Ocean Freight Customer Service Operator to be based out of Bristol.

Our client have engaged with Vidu VIP to carry out the initial search process.

The Role:

You will be responsible for handling the full end to end operations for both FCL and LCL ocean freight shipments across all major trade lanes. Dealing with both multi nationals and SME’s across a number of verticals whilst delivering a best in class service.

The role:

Arranging FCL and LCL import shipments from the Far east, Thailand, India and the USA along with others.

Liaising with customers, overseas partners, and suppliers to arrange quick dispatch of cargo.

Negotiating rates with suppliers in order to optimise profit margin.

Ensuring all documentation is received for customs clearance.

Creating job files from pre-alerts.

General customer service duties / Keeping all files on the system fully up to date.

Raising VAT and freight invoices, passing of purchase invoices for payment.

Handling invoice queries.

Transmitting import customs entries and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

Keeping in regular contact with Agents, shipping lines & transport companies.

Planning and arranging deliveries as per client requirements.

Ensuring all customers are served in line with their Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

Skills and experience required

Ocean Freight experience within the shipping/freight forwarding sector is essential along with experience of working in a similar role.

The ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Good working knowledge of FCL and LCL process.

Strong customer service skills.

Ability to complete customs entries.

Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships with clients and deliver high levels of customer care.

Ability to prioritise and organise work to achieve deadlines.

High level of speed and accuracy with excellent attention to detail.

Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Knowledge of customs procedures and Customs Tariff would be advantageous.
