We are working on a really exciting assignment for an Operations Manager on behalf of a leading Logistics Company.

Our client is a leading Freight Freight Forwarding / Supply Chain company who due to continued growth and development have opened a brand new site in Durham which has created an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to put their own stamp on things and be accountable for making this site a huge success.

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the primary focus of the role will be on operational management with responsibility for building and leading a team.

The role will involve achievement of operational targets in line with budgetary constraints. Effective people management, productivity, resource planning, cost control and forecasting, compliance, negotiating rates for both import and export and a requirement to actively contribute to overall financial and commercial strategy.

You will aim to improve the efficiency of this sites operations and processes.

Create a team culture that’s always working towards providing excellent customer service and an open door culture where your team can continually share best practise and innovative new ideas.

Maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety is a must.

In terms of expectations, our client are seeking an Operations Manager to not only exceed the expectations of their customers, but also those of their employees.

Skills and experience required

A successful track record of achievement in Air and Sea operations is imperative.

The ability to demonstrate you are a strong leader with an eclectic mix of both commercial and financial acumen and a proven track record of making a difference within a fast paced ever changing environment.

Extremely customer focused with the ability to problem solve and make decisions in the best interests of our client.

The ability to remain calm in a pressurised environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and influence positive work behaviours from your employees.

The ability to multi task whilst working to tight deadlines.

The desire not only to meet customer and people expectations, but also to exceed them.

Be computer literate with a strong level of I.T skills.
