Vidu is working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a People Manager on behalf of an ambitious, high-growth eCommerce distribution business who have recently launched a dedicated returns business in the United States with the backing of two highly successful multi-million turnover brands operating across the UK, US and rest of world.
Combining the agility of a start-up with the financial strength, operational expertise and proven success of 2 established businesses, they are building the most powerful out-of-home parcel network in the US.

$140,000 – $150,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus annual KPI related bonus, package and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.
Your Mission:
As People Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and leading the People function in the US. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you’ll develop the policies, processes and culture that enable the business to grow rapidly while attracting and retaining exceptional talent.
You’ll be comfortable, advising leaders, implementing HR systems and helping shape organisational strategy as the business grows.
This is a hands-on role with significant scope to grow as the business expands.
Key Responsibilities:
Build the People Function:
Design and implement scalable HR policies, processes and procedures.
Develop onboarding and employee lifecycle programmes.
Select and implement HR systems and reporting tools.
Build a positive, high-performance culture from the outset.
Talent Acquisition:
Lead recruitment across all areas of the business.
Develop employer branding initiatives.
Create recruitment processes that support rapid growth.
Partner with the board to identify future workforce needs.
Employee Experience:
Create an engaging employee journey from recruitment through to career development.
Develop recognition and engagement initiatives.
Support employee wellbeing and inclusion.
Champion company values throughout the organisation.
Business Partnering:
Coach and support managers on leadership, performance management and employee development.
Provide practical advice on employee relations and organisational challenges.
Support organisational design as the business scales.
HR Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Federal, New York State and local employment legislation.
Maintain HR documentation and employee records.
Support investigations, disciplinary processes and employee relations matters.
Partner with external legal and HR advisors where required.
Learning & Development:
Develop training programmes for new hires and managers.
Support succession planning.
Identify future leadership capability within the business.
Compensation & Benefits:
Support salary benchmarking.
Coordinate employee benefits administration.
Assist leadership with reward and recognition initiatives.
Culture & Growth:
Help shape the identity of a growing business.
Drive employee engagement initiatives.
Foster collaboration between US and UK teams.
Support change management as the organisation evolves.
5+ years’ HR/People experience.
Experience within eCommerce, logistics, retail, fulfilment or distribution environments.
Previous experience working in a high-growth or start-up business is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of US employment legislation, particularly New York State.
Experience implementing HR processes and systems.
Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills.
Strong organisational and project management ability.
Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR) would be advantageous.
