Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a PM Transport Planner on behalf of rapidly growing, privately owned logistics business.
Our client are part of the Palletways network, covering the ST and CW area. You will be joining an experienced team of planners, customer service and dedicated drivers.
Circa £30,000 salary (dependent on experience) plus 20 days holiday plus statutory, pension and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.
Working hours – 12:00pm – 21:00pm (Or until everything is finished, this could be 19:30pm up to 21:30pm)

Your Mission:
As Transport Planner, you will be responsible for managing the planning and delivery of orders, through ensuring efficient usage and co-ordination of the driver and fleet resource.
You will plan and oversee all matters related to the Drivers, including route planning and scheduling, coaching, supporting and debriefing them to achieve an outstanding level of service to customers, utilising our clients Transport Planning Tool.
Our clients customers are at the heart of what they do, so it is imperative you possess strong communication skills as you will be the main liaison between the Transport Manager, Drivers, Warehouse team, Sales department and will also need to engage with colleagues in other depots.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Route Planning.
Ensuring vehicles are running to capacity and reducing empty running.
Actioning any defects.
Emailing customers with collection times/delays.
Booking deliveries.
Providing the highest level of customer care.
Building good working relationships internally and externally.
Debriefing Drivers on return.
Effective time management to ensure the job is completed within the set time frame provided.
Previous experience as a Transport Planner or Traffic Clerk, alternatively experience in an operational role within logistics or haulage is essential.
Excellent communication skills and telephone manner.
An understanding of compliance within the transport industry.
Experience in planning multiple delivery schedules.
Knowledge of safety and legal compliance.
Ability to build positive working relations with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
IT literate (Including working knowledge of MS and Excel).
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines within a busy transport office.
Good analytical skills.
Self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
