Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a Public Affairs Manager on behalf of a globally renowned Express Logistics business.

This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contact with the view to becoming permanent.

£60,000 basic salary, plus car/car allowance, bonus on completion of the contract, holidays, pension, benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

As Public Affairs Manager you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Corporate and Public Affairs function from engaging with third party and political stakeholders, to creating a tactical advocacy programme, and also developing internal communications. This is a key role in developing and maintaining a professional Corporate Affairs function which creates a secure, stable and predictable environment for the business.

Drafting concise and clear written briefing documents for senior management with key messages and evidenced positions on the issues that may arise during meetings with senior politicians and stakeholders.

Initiating and perpetuating excellent relationships and dialogue with key figures and bodies including Ministers, MPs, governmental departments, and local government.

Liaising with trade organisations, competitor organisations, etc to identify, co-ordinate and deliver an industry-wide perspective on complex business critical issues to pitch to relevant audiences.

Maintaining and growing the profile of the business within these governmental circles.

Managing and leading tours of our clients facilities for Government Ministers, MPs, MEPs, officials and other stakeholders. This includes presenting to them about our clients business, delivering key messages on policy and corporate issues, responding to questions and challenges from stakeholders.
Lobbying/written and verbal presentations.

Influencing policy consultations by: reviewing consultation documents and identifying the impact to our client; engaging with relevant specialists across the business in the UK and globally to understand the potential impact; gathering supporting quantitative and qualitative evidence to form our clients position; writing a comprehensive and convincing technical consultation response that promotes our clients position.

The development and dissemination of key information on the company’s relevance to government, alongside Corporate Communications and Marketing teams.

Creation and implementation of influential public affairs engagement strategy with key governmental figures, at Westminster and beyond.

Development of robust stakeholder planning processes for the implementation of agreed direction and accountability for the delivery of the plans.
Regular contact with elected officials including MPs, MEPs, MSPs, and Ministers.

Communicating our clients policies and views to European, national and local political stakeholders.

Evidence gathering to support our clients position on business critical issues.

Successful participation and implementation of corporate role (eg strategic planning and goal setting)

Horizon scanning to identify Government policies that could impact the operations of the business and/or pose political and reputational risk.
Successful influencing of policy development / law change better reflects the needs of our client and their profile is increased with critical Government audiences.
