Vidu are working on a really exciting assignment in the search for a Senior Business Development Manager covering a national remit for contract logistics, on behalf of a Globally recognised Logistics Company.

Our client have engaged with Vidu VIP to carry out the initial search process.

Our client is a Globally renowned Logistics Company, specialising in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain, Contract Logistics and Transportation. As part of their growth plan and strategy moving into 2019, they are looking to attract a Senior Business Development Manager who can demonstrate a proven track record of winning big ticket new business.

Role Purpose:

To identify and develop new sales opportunities across the full range of our clients products and services. Build effective strategic relationships with prospect customers to senior and board level.

The role will require the production of quality, bespoke proposals and presentations, the completion of all commercial negotiations through to delivery of signed contract and include the early implementation and handover to operations. You will take responsibility for individual projects up to circa £10 Million per annum with an individual annual target of £5m + of profitable new business acquisition.

Often working to tight deadlines, you will manage and take responsibility for each of your opportunities from cradle to grave, ensuring a consistent win rate over the year of profitable and sustainable new business.
A key skill will be the ability to lead functional teams throughout the new business process, pulling together departmental expertise, reviewing opportunities, creating and costing solutions and then the production and delivery of high quality proposals and documents to the end client. (Support will be provided by marketing, social media and blog campaigns)

The role requires an individual with a consultative approach and a “solution sales” focus with a strong track record and experience gained in similar roles within the 3rd Party Logistics, transport, warehousing or associated sectors.  

You must be a talented, tenacious and driven self-starter.

Enjoy the autonomy of working with a small, dedicated Business Development department, supported by a business solutions team covering the warehouse and transport modelling and costing processes.
The role is exclusively focussed on “NEW” business from specific pre-agreed verticals including Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Healthcare, Retail and Aerospace.

Skills and experience required

Demonstrable experience within a similar role in a similar industry sector (5 years+)

A proven track record of selling across warehouse, transport, ecommerce and supply chain services.

It’s imperative you are a target driven hunter, capable of generating and managing your own personal pipeline. In addition to being Inquisitive by nature and enjoy engaging with customers.

A proven track record in presenting both freight forwarding and logistics solutions.

Ability to really identify key challenges and USPs of the customer.

Innovative and creative in your approach.

The ability to demonstrate a consultative selling style, focussed on solution sales and value add.

Experienced public speaker, engaging individuals and groups a like.

The ability to demonstrate a thorough, up to date understanding of the UK Contract Logistics market.

The ability to demonstrate negotiation skills (very commercially astute)

Have well developed presentation and communication skills, and the ability to communicate internally/externally at a variety of levels, up to board level.

A highly networked individual.

A proven track record of strong leadership / project management skills.

A team player capable of both leading and working within a team.

The ability to develop key strategic relationships at a senior level.

Experienced in preparing responses to ITTs and RFQs.

Competent in leading the negotiation of commercial agreements.

Experienced in planning & producing business implementation plans.

A good influencer.

The ability to set and meet deadlines – good time management.

Self motivated with a strong work ethic.

Possess core PC skills – Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to a high level.

Highly numerate & literate.

Well presented, confident and articulate.

Possess the ability to work under pressure.
