Vidu are running an exciting assignment in the search for a Transport Manager on behalf of a market leading Haulage Company.

Our client are a privately owned haulage company servicing an enviable list of blue chip clients in the UK and Europe. They deliver transport solutions to container shipping lines, freight forwarders, logistics companies and retail distributors.

Based on this years growth plan and strategy they are looking to appoint an extremely commercially aware Transport Manager to assist in their on going growth and development.

Role/Responsibilities:

Working closely with the owner of the company you will be involved in the day-to-day management of contracts operationally and strategically.

You will be tasked with taking ownership of the planning and routing of our clients vehicles and drivers in the most cost effective way possible, using and keeping up to date all the systems available, while ensuring the fleet is run in a legal manner, delivering high quality operational performance.

You will be working towards specific targets across all areas of efficiency, service and financial targets, whilst ensuring compliance with our clients company policies and procedures.

Skills and experience required

It’s imperative you have upwards of 3 years experience working in a similar/same role ideally within the Haulage sector.

Have a proven track record of managing upwards of £6m P&L and in excess of 60 drivers.

Are self motivated pro-active and strategic in your approach.

Have the ability to interact efficiently with internal departments and our clients customers to drive and deliver sustainable and progressive change.

Sound knowledge of current legislation regarding Drivers tachograph rules and Working Time Directive is essential, in addition to being confident in dealing with Drivers.

Commercially aware with a keen eye for detail.

CPC license is desirable but not essential.

Drive, Determination and enthusiasm is imperative.
