About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a commercially aware Transport Planner to look after a £6m retail contract on behalf of a globally renowned logistics business.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of office based, home based and offsite customer visits.

It’s imperative you can work well as part of a European solution, have excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate with multiple countries and have management experience as you will have 2 direct reports.

Circa £40,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus KPI related bonus, travel expenses, 25 days holiday plus stats, pension and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Your Mission:

International Supply Chain is a growing part of our clients business. You will be interfacing with many areas of the business to provide end to end supply chain solutions for their customers. This role will require operational and planning management of a household named retailer. You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of up to date and accurate visibility of day to day shipment activity, finance management, vendor management and haulier management associated with the European transport movements in line with the customers’ requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage day to day activity and build strong relationships with customers inbound team.

Responsible for the economic planning of full and part loads for a variety of customers.

Ensure that all transactions are commercially viable with service requirements being met and to promote our clients brand image and values.

Monitor performance of the nominated hauliers performance and compliance to the agreed SLAs

Dealing with supplier, customer and invoice queries, ensuring clear communication and managing compliance.

Develop continuous improvement programmes to deliver customer benefit.

Ability to react to adhoc customer requests.

Obtain rates and increase the number of approved hauliers to give a wider market choice/option of carriers.

Skills and experience required

Previous European Planning experience.

Good knowledge of European Geography.

Excellent inter-personal and organisational skills.

Additional languages would be advantageous but not essential.

Capable of managing own time and workload.

Previous experience of cargowise / Infor nexus would be beneficial.

Other Information:
Occasional requirement to work UK National Holidays to ensure continuation of service to customer.
Due to the European nature of this role there is a requirement for some flexibility around working hours.
