About this position

Vidu are working on a super exciting assignment in the search for a UK & Group Financial Controller on behalf of a rapidly growing, extremely innovative Freight Forwarding company.

Our client has engaged with Vidu VIP to commence the initial search.

Circa £80,000 – £85,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) plus £5,000 KPI related bonus, 10% of basic salary company profit bonus, private heath care, life cover, income protection, pension and excellent opportunities for career development and progression.

Your Mission:

Achieving the financial goals for the company as specified in the current business plan. This will include personnel (team structure, workloads, new staff selection, training and development) and company financial goals.

Maintenance of statutory records in accordance with legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage all financial accounting functions and book keeping controls.

Manage credit control in accordance with the company credit policy.

Maximise the company’s cashflow through management of debt collection and supplier payment whilst maintaining good relationships with customers and suppliers.

Perform treasury and foreign currency management.

Monthly reconciliation of purchase reserves (debits and credits).

Monthly cost accruals/prepayments and evaluation of gross trading profit.

Run monthly cost allocations and ensure billing to non-UK/Group entities.

Job closure to be completed in line with company schedule.

Produce a monthly cashflow projection and consolidated balance sheet.

Manage monthly business expense claims.

Manage quarterly VAT returns and annual corporation tax returns.

Manage the fixed asset register.

Produce year-end financial statement and accounts and assist auditors to produce company accounts within stated timeframes.

Control the company’s working capital to ensure maximum investment returns.

Manage the day-to-day banking relationship along with the approval matrix.

Assist with the preparation of monthly forecasts and budgets in conjunction with the Financial Director and FP&A Manager.

Produce statutory returns and associated schedules in line with Company Secretary responsibilities.

Complete other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, as requested.

Skills and experience required

Qualified ACCA/ACA with a minimum of 5 years post qualified experience as a Financial Controller.

At least 3 years logistics industry experience in a senior accounting position.

Understanding of the current tax and audit regimes.

Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.

Excellent communicator both up and down together with internal/external partners.

Meticulous eye for detail.

Cargowise ERP system experience desirable but not essential.
