Vidu are running an exciting search for a UK Sales Director / Head of Sales for a leading Logistics Company.

Our client has experienced rapid growth over the last five years and is now one of the largest independent forwarders in the UK.

They are looking to recruit a proven sales leader to be part of their exciting journey.

The successful candidate will be able to pull from an unrivalled package of services, a global network and market leading supply chain systems, as well as a great customer base and a highly passionate team around the globe.

The role will be focused on growing our clients Forwarding services in the UK and managing and growing their team of Development Managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for growth and delivery of new sales in the UK across our clients core Forwarding products

Working closely with procurement, freight operations, customer experience and global product teams to create continued value for our clients customers

Strong management and providing direction to a growing team of dynamic Business Development and Trade Lane Managers

A promoter of change and embrace new technologies that drive sales in a diverse, challenging and changing market

Prospect and develop new opportunities through various means and lead the team to do the same

Work with their in house marketing department on targeted promotions and tailored messaging to their customers and prospects

Meet with prospective clients and provide a consultative service tailored to specific needs and create a clear value proposition for them

Build a portfolio of accounts from targeted business development and a network of clients

Promote products and services through delivery of presentations and demonstrations

Work strategically with their wider UK teams to plan and create sales strategies and a calendar of activities

Work with the Board to develop new strategies on growth in new market segments and identify new areas that require investment

Skills and experience required

Ideally degree qualified with a proven track record of developing new business and high performing teams within the Freight Forwarding Sector

Significant experience of growing Air, Sea and Road Freight divisions

Strong commercial acumen and the ability to plan strategically

A team player with the ability to recruit and build teams and a proven track record of managing, mentoring and developing them

In depth knowledge of sales and pricing strategies

Experience of presenting at board level to SME’s and Multi Nationals

A proven track record of leading from the front, with an entrepreneurial flair and a passion to make a real difference.
